A New Dawn

Here's my second post!
My cousin, Zellynah Ysabel was baptized yesterday. I was a "ninang" or a godmother, and the pseudo-official photographer for the occasion. I have a lot of nieces and nephews though I can't seem to keep track of them. I'm too young to be a godmother I think anyway. My godmother/aunt is amazing, she's practically my second mother. I don't think I can be like that to anyone at my age and mentality, I mean, I can't really help raise a child, like what my aunt did. But I suppose I can at least be an example. But really, I'm still too young. I haven't even figured myself out yet! But hey, what can you do

.
So here's a teaser of my dress. Yes once again it's floral. BIG surprise right? Hahaha. Probably by now you've noticed my bias for floral print. This is a bit different though. It's longer than what I usually wear.
More teasers. I'll leave the actual outfit for the end. :)

Sandals were a gift. Not necessarily my first choice, but it sort of works. Feminine but a bit edgy. The sandals were actually a gift from my aunt, who got it from her best friend, who recently arrived from New Zealand.
Some odd angled photos of me.

So before the actual outfit post here are some nice moments I captured during the christening and after.
It's the girl of the hour - my cousin. And niece.

Her mom.

My other cousin, and my niece's sister.

The cake.

Half body shot of my outfit. I love the brick wall background. :>

Here's the whole body shot finally:

It's long! The dress is.

So this is where my post comes to an end. I wanted to put in more pictures but the internet connection is pffffft.

The Big Five Zero

Sorry for not posting everyone! Summer has left me with not much opportunity to post here in my fashion blog. Yes a lot has happened, but I wasn't really outfit ready for those moments. Or I didn't have a photographer on hand. But anyway, I have two posts for you. The first one is this.

My dad recently turned 50 years old this last May 23. Every year, he goes to this rural village in San Antonio where he grew up, in order to...well, make an "alay". It's not really a sacrifice, but more like a kind of praise or thanksgiving to Mary. It's a tradition my grandfather started. Although he's already passed away, my dad still keeps the custom up.

I really didn't have anything to wear to my dad's birthday. This was the only dress I had at home, all my other clothes are at UP. I decided to fix the dress up with the belt and the shrug. Actually, it was really hot there but the dress was really low in the back so I did HAVE to wear the cardigan.

We first went to one of my dad's friend's house and ate, then we went to the chapel or "tuklong" for the alay. Here's a picture of one of the statues there.
What happens with the alay is there's singing and the children throw flower petals on the altar.
Sabog ng bulaklak
Sadyang salit-salit
Sa mahal mong noo'y aming ikakapit
Buhos ng pag-asa
Sadyang pananalig
Ang tatanggapin mo'y
Handog ng Pagibig

This is my youngest brother, the only one in the family young enough to throw petals. We old people just place bouquets on the altar, in the tune of a different song.

Macro shots of my outfit. I like taking shots of what I wore in odd angles, whether to emphasize the print, or some detail of the outfit that I liked.
Also, since I don't have a photographer such shots are the only artistic ones I can do. Well, as long as I still don't have tripod that is.

Last outfit shot before we went home. I have the same pose anyway.

Things have really changed. Imagine, my dad's already fifty. Things were so different when I was young. The same goes for my dad. The picture above was a river where he first learned how to swim. Now it's so thick with lilies you can hardly see the water. Time changes all things. People age.

Happy Birthday Dad.

Breezy

My buddy Tel (that's her with the pants over there) and I went to Mckinley Hill last Friday to see the Korean group 2AM. I'm a big fan of theirs so I really wanted to go, even if it did cost me P1100 to see them. Long story. I suppose I'll post the story this weekend on my Tumblr.

My buddy treated me to Tokyo Cafe. It was awesome. Seriously, try the food there.

This is what I drank. Sorry I can't post a picture of the Tokyo burger I ate. Forgot to edit it.

Ahh. Tokyo Cafe.

Some windblown shots.

My. Look at my hair. Hahaha. Oh by the way I'm wearing a thrifted dress (pompoms!) shorts, although you probably can't see, and yes my oxfords. Actually, I have a new pair which I haven't been able to wear yet. Maybe tomorrow. Yeay, it's the freshie orientation tomorrow. Excited to meet them. Actually, we have to wear orange tomorrow, it's the department color, but I don't have an orange something in my closet so...

The pose for all posts this is.

Oooh yes. I was also wearing this battered up old ring of mine. I love flower rings but I only own two. This and a black one which sort of looks like this.

Thanks a lot Tel for being my photographer! :)

Summer Snow

Summer snow. UP is in bloom with cotton.
Finally, I am able to post again because of my dear dear friend Joanna who served as my photographer. Warning: this post has a lot of pictures.

I edited the pictures to have a sort of summer sunshine-y look. I'm not sure If I achieved it though. I haven't really been studying photo editing as I said I would. I just play around with color and contrasts til I'm satisfied with the overall effects.

By the way I'm wearing a thrifted bright pink (as you can probably see) knit cardigan (the only cardigan I can afford to wear because it's FREAKING hot.), black tank top, thrifted flower printed bubble skirt, my trusty oxfords and a necklace which I have disassembled. Sort of.

I felt so summer-y with my outfit. Or I suppose it was more meant for spring?

Oh selcas. I may have had a photographer with me but I still love taking selcas.

I look like I'm eating cotton. nom nom nom nom.

It's so fluffy I'm gonna die. Guess the line anyone?

I guess these are my two most favorite poses.

I don't particularly like how I've edited the first picture. A little too much brightness I think. The second one doesn't seem to match the others as well.

The source of all this summer snow.
I hope everyone's having a nice summer. And I hope you like the pictures. :)
